How did an Adidas Ad and a Coldplay music video drew inspiration from Delacroix

A 19th century romanticism painting that inspired TV commercial and music video

I’ve always enjoyed watching this Adidas TVC ‘Gimme the Ball’ since I first saw it more than a decade ago. While the characters chasing the ball are mostly rather goth-like (or Tolkien-esques?) but the crafting of the slow-mo climax was brilliant. It looks almost like a painting from the romantic movement.
